But before we even get to May, we attended the 'Border Challenge' in mid April. A set of 3 shows held in Albury and where the Finnish Lapphund Clubs of NSW and Vic have a friendly 'state versus state' competition complete with ribbons and trophies. It was an incredibly wet and muddy weekend of camping.
We didn't do anything too remarkable as far as results go but it was exciting to see 50 Finnish Lapphunds descend on Albury to compete. Aslak (Aslak av Vintervidda (Imp Nor) did the best of all our dogs, taking the Reserve Dog Challenge and Runner Up Best of Breed on the 2nd day.
Also on the 2nd day, Lexie (Ch. Caleebra Armani Acqua) won Junior bitch class and gave the Bitch Challenge and Reserve Challenge winner a run for their wins which was pretty exciting for our young girl.
We also attended 3 Rally Trials in May. Dolce managed a pass at the first one but at the Working Dog Club double he became besotted with a female Border Collie in the Honor station and we just couldn't get that final pass for his title.
I'd entered Summer just for fun and she certainly had a good time. She was a right clown for the first trial, and for the first part of the 2nd trial but managed to 'Rally' and gained her first Rally Novice pass with a respectable 82. She's not exactly ready to keep going so it'll be a while before her next trial.
