This day has been a long time in the planning and came around oh so quickly.
First of all it was a chilly Victorian Day, which the dogs were loving, but the humans not so much.
We arrived before 8am and set about setting up and grooming the dogs. The first show started at 9:30 and we were almost ready. I was worried i hadnt finished brushing Mischa, but i shouldnt have concerned myself, because there were 65 Lappies entered and i had so much time between Dolce and Mischa going in the ring.
Dolce was a little superstar. So focused. and considering the temptation of 60+ show lappies and all the pet friends along for the ride it was a big ask. He was unplaced in his class of 11 dogs but i was so happy with him.
Mischa was also unplaced for neuter. i think she needs more time to really grow out that neuter coat. Some of the older girls have years of coat on her. But she was also perfectly well behaved and i couldnt be happier with them.
Nike - Ch. Ausvarg DragonValcore took out Best of Breed, and Emmi took Bitch Challenge in that show.
The long day continued as class after class of Lappies entered the ring for the First Finnish Lapphund Specialty Championship Show. All in all there were 81 entered with only 4 absent
Again Dolce was unplaced in his class but again gave me great focus and really was so well behaved.
Mischa's brother Ahti took 2nd in that Class so we were pretty stoked for Mel and James.
Mischa took 3rd in Neuter class. Her dam Ch. Armahani Amethyst Apina taking 1st at both shows and Best Neuter in Show at the Spitz Show.
Kalevi Kennels took out top honours for Best In Specialty Show (BISS) with Kalevi Blessed in Wonder (Comet) from South Australia.
RUBISS Went to Dolce's sire Louis. Bitch Challenge went to Kalevi Cheri Blossom (Anikka) from Western Australia. Dolce's dam, a rather naked post-baby bald Emmi took Reserve Bitch.
Both Comet and Anikka earned their Australian Champion Conformation titles with those fantastic wins.
The night was capped off with a dinner and presentations and we didnt leave til after 9pm. A 14 hour show day!!!
We're back home now. Tired but happy. and can't wait to do it all again next year.
