We headed off to Sydney for a weekend of showing under a couple of international judges. I'd seen that Mr Gunnar Nymann of Denmark had recently judged a Lapphund specialty in Norway, so when his name appeared as a Judge for Group 5 at the North of the Harbour shows in Sydney, I decided we might as well enter. It soon turned into a family reunion as we convinced Alleria and Lexie's owners to also enter the shows over the weekend, and it was lovely to see the two girls again. Dolce's half sister, Veikko was also showing as well as Ahsoka in the Neuter class
Surprisingly we were the only entries for the first two days with 1 more joining us for the Finnish judge on the Sunday.
On the first day under Gunnar Nymann, Summer took the Best of Breed with Veikko taking Runner Up
Day 2 saw Aslak take the Best of Breed with Summer the Runner Up under Sth African judge Mrs Joy McFarlane
and Day 3 saw Alleria take Best of Breed with Veikko Runner Up under Finnish judge Mrs Paula
Heikkinen-Lehkonen. Aslak and Alleria were also shortlisted for the Best in Group lineup. The highlight of my weekend was seeing Leah's face when Alleria was selected for Best of Breed and again selected for the judges shortlist in group. The anxious wait while the judge deliberated between Alleria and the White Swiss Shepherd for RuBIG had all the Lappie crew holding their breath, but unfortunately the WSS took the RUBIG for the 2nd day in a row but Alleria was a rockstar the whole show and keen to keep going. We love this little girls work ethic.
Another big highlight of the weekend was Aslak gaining the final points for his title. He's been waiting on those final points for a while now so we're glad to have finally got them and he will soon be known as Australian Champion Aslak av Vintervidda (Imp NOR)
